They took my mind
Salted, hung it
Above those dogs
-Snap and snarl
Below my thoughts-
But I shall never fall away
Count each hair
Each grain of salt
Lose heart and rip it
(Eat it all)
Elephants tiptoe through
Stars fall
To kiss the earth
Between my toes
And I bother not to put them back
Die darling stars
Waste lovely flowers
Drown in your own dew and dust
Fear my fingers slightest tough
Cower at the stutters of my tongue
I’ll dance among you
Taste your breath
Bottle your colors
Die
Die with frailty my love
(As those dogs snap right behind you)

sense
I never meant to make *sense*
I’ll make a flying machine
a big one with those wings
and peddles for your feet
and heart
you’ll take it on a windy day
out to the carnival
with unicorns and clowns
and me
so take a drive through the forest
your car had to stop
but you just walked
through a patch
of nettles
through my driveway door
on the corner
by the gas station
wearing robin’s egg blue
again
I’ll make a flying machine
a big one with those wings
and peddles for your feet
and heart
you’ll take it on a windy day
out to the carnival
with unicorns and clowns
and me
so take a drive through the forest
your car had to stop
but you just walked
through a patch

on the corner
by the gas station
wearing robin’s egg blue
again

brittle
You’re my little sparrow
Stuck with pins
Cut off your wings
At the crescent moon
Sing tales of all
That’s yet to come
Of all the wrath
That’s coming soon
You’re my little songbird
Fly home now if you dare
Or wallow in my pity words
There’s swallow’s feet stuck there
I warned them too
With silver moon
With sparkling wine
With smiles
Yet each one said twas just a prick
And vowed to stay a while
Oh gaping stars and thunderstorms
Come steal away beguilement
Wither my bones, wrinkle my skin
That I may harm no more
Stuck with pins
Cut off your wings
At the crescent moon
Sing tales of all
That’s yet to come
Of all the wrath
That’s coming soon
You’re my little songbird
Fly home now if you dare
Or wallow in my pity words
There’s swallow’s feet stuck there
I warned them too

With sparkling wine

every(thing)inbetween
/collide/
yellow & green to make stardust
stardust to dance over graves
graves to choke on living things
and still living things to die
(when their eyes grow tired)
My eyes were sleepy yesterday
But I shocked them out of tragedy
Dear best friend summer rain
Come out to play/keep me awake
/collide/
purple & red to make blood vessels
vessels to twine around brains
brains to choke on simple things
and still simple things to try
(even though our eyes are tired)
yellow & green to make stardust
stardust to dance over graves
graves to choke on living things
and still living things to die
(when their eyes grow tired)
My eyes were sleepy yesterday
But I shocked them out of tragedy
Dear best friend summer rain

*
I could live in a place like that
in the corner
with a skylight
with a window
at night I'd throw it open and I'd sing
songs
and tales
and horrid things
and when the moon shone down
on your 90's Chevrolet
I’d dance like a banshee
-you do know that they dance
better than they wail?-
and with each star that twinkled
I’d crinkle
up
a piece of paper
and watch it graze your car
and I'd drop a bottle
of blue
glitter
on the floor
and track it everywhere
-magical footsteps
for
magical dreams-
and I'd steal your keys
and leave a pair
of
fairy wings
on your passenger seat
then I'd creep back through the window
and I'd sleep
listening to the rain against the skylight
in the corner
with a skylight
with a window
at night I'd throw it open and I'd sing
songs
and tales
and horrid things
and when the moon shone down
on your 90's Chevrolet
I’d dance like a banshee

Bird(watching)
Alice fell down a rabbit hole
And you,
A wishing well
But I
I fell down a tube of toothpaste
You eat cereal and milk
For breakfast
Strong bones
And rotting teeth
You said I was the same
You sit cross-legged
In bed
Pen and paper
Needle and thread
I sit with needle and skin
You said I need a hobby
Bird-watching
Bird-catching
Bird-drawing
Drawing down the moon
But that was never me
I had red shoes
And pigtails
But you were just a pretty boy
With too much on your mind
And you,
A wishing well
But I
I fell down a tube of toothpaste
You eat cereal and milk
For breakfast
Strong bones
And rotting teeth
You said I was the same
You sit cross-legged
